Dear Supporter,

If you are reading this post, you probably already know a lot about what we do at S.O.S. and the Mediation Center. You might follow us on social media, know our staff, attend our events, volunteer, or just stop by the office from time to time. You believe in our mission to reduce shootings and killings and to build healthier, safer neighborhoods for everyone. I want to thank you for always having our back and helping us keep up this important work in Brooklyn.

I want to share a few words from community members (names changed for privacy) who demonstrate the impact of our programs first hand. I hope you’ll be moved by their testimonies and consider making a gift to S.O.S. and the Mediation Center today. To give online, click here and select S.O.S. Crown Heights, S.O.S. Bed-Stuy, or the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center from the drop-down menu. To give by mail, checks can be made out to our parent organization, the Fund for the City of New York, and sent to the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center at 256 Kingston Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11213.

In Their Own Words

“I really like coming here. When I do, I know I can get the help I need and people will welcome me and know my name. I don’t get that anywhere else, honestly.” – Janet, 50

“Save Our Streets provided me with new opportunities and assisted me with recognizing my existing opportunities. S.O.S. helped me change my mindset. Every dispute does not have to end violently.” – Bless, 21

“Thanks for everything. You’ve helped me get through some dark times within  my life and given me the power to move on when I’ve given up. I won’t ever forget what you’ve done. I wanna inspire others like ya’ll did me.” – Evan, 17

“S.O.S. saved my youngest son from the streets and a destructive lifestyle. Hopefully his older brother will follow his lead.” – Berlinda, 65

“Working with the Make It Happen program has allowed my students to make better decisions, access resources, and advocate for themselves. It has the potential to transform communities by transforming the lives of young men.” – Elaine, 33

As we close out 2015 and prepare for 2016, we are looking towards a peaceful year with many community building events and anti-violence activities on the horizon. All donations are tax deductible and will play a crucial role in helping us continue serving the community. Thank you and Happy New Year!
