On June 3rd, The Save Our Streets Clergy Action Network (S.O.S. C.A.N.) hosted the summer Strategy Breakfast at The Bethany U.M.C. at 1204 St. Johns Place. Over thirty people were in attendance. The highlight of the day was Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo who shared with the audience and held an hour long Q & A session. She followed Mr. Drew Gabriel, The Brooklyn Representative of New York Governor Cuomo. He shared with the group then answered questions for another 30 mins. The breakfast was delicious, the atmosphere electric, and all left energized.
On June 17th, Rev. Kevin Jones, our Faith Based Liaison, and the Save Our Streets Clergy Action Network, hosted the 4th annual Increase The Peace: Community Youth Symposium at The Bedford Central Community Center, 1200 Dean street. 60 plus people attended a day of workshops including The Harms Of Social Media, Expressing Emotional trauma Thru The Arts, Real Men Don’t Cry, Facing Trauma, It Costs To Be the Boss: Becoming Financially Savvy, Conflict resolution, Gangs & Guns, and Self Image. At the end of day there was a raffle giveaway of 5 gift cards and one brand new Apple Watch. A full lunch was served. The day had a great vibe and was enlightening and enjoyable for all who attended.
