The Crown Heights Community Mediation Center is seeking a Violence Interrupter for the Save Our Streets (S.O.S.) program in Bedford-Stuyvesant. S.O.S. Bed-Stuy is a replication of the Cure Violence program (formerly known as CeaseFire Chicago) a gun violence prevention model that aims to reduce and prevent shootings through the use of public health strategies.
Violence Interrupters work individually and as a team to prevent neighborhood shootings and killings. They provide conflict mediation services and serve as conduits to the program’s Outreach Workers.
The ideal candidate will be able to show they have the knowledge and connections to the Bed-Stuy neighborhood necessary to be effective and compliment the rest of the S.O.S. Bed-Stuy team. Candidates must be skilled communicators, able to work in a multi-disciplinary setting and maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies and organizations both onsite and in the community.
