Legal Hand is holding voting sessions for participatory budget proposals this week Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday. We encourage all residents of the 36th district to come make their voices heard and have an impact on how their tax dollars are spent!

How it works:

Participatory budgeting is a democratic process in which community members create proposals and vote on how to spend up to $1 million dollars of public budget money. Here in Crown Heights the 36th district has the opportunity to vote on proposals for projects that will directly improve the community. This process is unique because it allows everyone, not just elected officials, to collaborate and decide how to spend real dollars on real projects that were envisioned by residents of Crown Heights. Participatory budgeting results in better use of public money and gives power to the people to determine how to address their most important needs.
