On Thursday August 3, 2017, the Mental Health Project and Urban Justice Center hosted 100 people for the 3rd Annual Freedom Celebration and Recognition Awards at the DL Rooftop Lounge.

Our very own Director of Trauma Support Services, Kenton Kirby was honored with a Community Impact Award for his outstanding work with young men of color who have been formerly incarcerated, impacted by violence, and have experienced trauma. Other Honorees included Deanna Hoskins, Sr. Policy Officer for Corrections & Reentry, Department of Justice, and Actor & Entrepreneur Malik Yoba, President & founder of Natureboy Enterprises.

Some special guests included City Council Member of the 25th District, Daniel Dromm, Donna Hylton of the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund Inc., and Edward Fernandez, Clinical Director at EAC Queens TASC.
