On Thursday, June 19th, the S.O.S. Crown Heights outreach team joined members of the Coney Island Anti-Violence Coalition at a community rally in response to a shooting at the Surfside Gardens housing development on West 32nd Street in Coney Island.

Urban Neighborhood Services leads the Coney Island Anti-Violence Coalition, an affiliation of over 100 Coney Island residents and organizations working together to address gun violence in the neighborhood. The Coalition is working to bring a Cure Violence program to the area but, in the meantime, Coalition volunteers have organized and are taking to the streets to apply some of the elements of Cure Violence that they can safely implement on their own.
