On the afternoon of Monday, September 3rd, 22-year-old Lester Jack was shot and killed. During the incident, a second young man was non-fatally shot. The community gathered on September 6th at the site of the shooting—the corner of Hancock Street and Spencer Place; across from the Bedford Village School and John Hancock Playground—to take a stand against losing loved ones to gun violence. Family and friends of the victims were joined by Neighbors In Action staff and youth, Moms Demand Action, Cure Violence sites B.I.V.O and G.M.A.C.C., local residents, and community members; in all, 70 people showed their solidarity. We’re grateful to those who passed out palmcards, spoke on the bullhorn, and gave their time and presence to take a stand against gun violence in our community.
