We are excited to invite you to submit a proposal to present for the third iteration of a dynamic conference, Revolutionary Healing; Paving the Way to Healing and Recovery on April 12, 2017 in Brooklyn, NY. The conference will focus on what works for young men of color who have been harmed by violence. This conference will build on our 2016 event, “Paving the Way to Healing and Recovery: Conversations with Young Men of Color Who Survive Violence.” You can find more information on the first conference here.
We will bring together people who can, should, and currently do this important work, to create a robust dialogue and learning space. While we will undoubtedly acknowledge the enormous and grave extent of this violence, we will focus our attention on promising strategies that work for young men of color who have survived violence so that we leave with concrete tools and deeper hope.
We need your wisdom! If you work with young men of color who have survived violence and have ideas and experience about what works in supporting them through their pain and healing, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. We are especially interested in authentic dialogue that includes the lens of race, racism, gender identity, sexual orientation, culture, and class.
It is important to us that this exploration of promising practices lift up the experience not only of some of the larger nonprofits working in this area, but equally, the voices of grassroots organizations, experienced practitioners, and crucially, the young men themselves. Please visit the Call for Proposals Form for more information about the conference and what we’re seeking from presenters.
The deadline for submissions is March 10th.
If you have any questions about the conference or your submission, please feel free to email Manouche Matelus at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We thank you and look forward to hearing from you.
