On July 26, the Make It Happen C.H.A.M.P.S. (Community Healers And Mentors for Personal Success) were given the opportunity to visit the NFL Headquarters. There, our CHAMPS met with Tony Porter, CEO of A Call To Men to have a group discussion on what is healthy, respectful manhood. Our CHAMPS were able to share their experiences and understanding of what the “Man Box” is and its influence on the socialization of men. Following the discussion with Tony, our CHAMPS had another group discussion with former player, now Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Troy Vincent where he shared his life story and the work he does outside football in his advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Troy finished by emphasizing relationships to the CHAMPS saying “show me your friends, and I’ll show your future. You will become the average of your five closest friends.” We would like to thank Tony Porter and the NFL for taking the time out to meet with us.
